We don't have TV in our house. We have a television, but it's only hooked up to the DVD player, so we can watch DVDs, but not TV. So my mom told me about hulu.com the other day. It's a website put up by NBC and some other affiliates (Fox, I think) and they have whole episodes of TV shows and some movies that you can watch for free online. I haven't actually watched a whole show yet, but I think there are still commercials built in. I thought it was pretty cool, and thought I'd share it.
Here's a clip from hulu that I thought was pretty funny:

We are in the same boat. I refuse to pay for cable, just because it's too much and I don't want a contract. Then I discovered Hulu. It's great! Then we discovered how great Netflix is! You only pay about $9 a month and they have tons of movies and shows online, plus they send you DVD's all them time (as soon as you return one they put the next in the mail). Way better than Redbox. If you get an S-video cord you can just hook your laptop up to your TV and get the full experience. It's pretty good quality too.
Ha! That's great, thanks for sharing that clip.
