End of year celebrations

Since we couldn't have kinder graduation at school this year, the school planned a virtual graduation, sent out in video form. It was actually quite pleasant to be able to fast forward through the classes of all the other kinder classes and just watch Megan's class. I pulled out one of the other kids' old graduation caps so I could snap a few graduation photos of Megan.

The day of the kinder graduation also happened to be McKenzie's birthday, so we planned a big combined bash. Eloise and Annie helped decorate the cupcakes as foxes for McKenzie, since that's her favorite animal.
They turned out super cute. Even the one that looked like Scrat from Ice Age.
The week previous the kids had made and decorated piñatas during art of our last week of school. One group made a penguin, so the other group decided to design a predator for the penguin: a leopard seal.
We borrowed a Kid Car Wash from some friends and set it up in Grandma's back yard. It's like a mini splash pad, since all the real splash pads are shut down for now.
We had burgers off the grill for dinner.

 Before the piñata is busted:
 And after:
There was a mad rush of children to get what candy they could.

We sugared them up with the cupcakes, then went inside for presents.
After presents it was time for Megan's graduation video. One regret is I never got a picture of Megan with her teachers. We'll have to get some pictures at the beginning of next year, I guess. Here our graduate is with Mrs. Parks.
We are so happy Megan had Mrs. Parks and Mrs. Hager and Mrs. Mooney. I feel a little cheated out of her having them for a full year, but that's life. Can't do much about it now. They were wonderful to help our little Momma's girl to enjoy school and transition straight to full day kindergarten. Megan was super happy this last quarter having me as her teacher. She is definitely the clingiest kid out of the 4 and would spend all day every day with her mom if she could.

The following day we celebrated Jared's 5th grade promotion. I brought our graduation cap and my bath robe to make him feel like a real graduate. He seemed to think the robe didn't fit quite right just because we couldn't see his hands.
I printed out these diplomas my friend made and allowed me to steal.
I made one for each of the kids with their names written in, but for Jared I printed one with his name in print and instead of graduating from "Quarantine School," it said "Elementary School." They all got a kick out of it, especially the toilet paper zeroes. And in the seal it's hard to see in this picture, but it's a toilet paper roll with a graduation cap on.

We were again glad to skip through all the other 5th grade classes and just watch Jared's class. After the graduation was over the kids formed a conga line to dance to "Hasta La Vista" that was at the end of the video.
It was fun being able to celebrate the end of the school year and beginning of summer. And we decided we might actually prefer the video graduations to the live ones because fast forwarding through all the kids no one knows is super nice. :) We all deserve a big pat on the back for making it through Quarantine School and our Homeschooling-not-by-choice experience.
