Back to school

I was really bad about back to school pictures this year. After Ryan and Megan got home I remembered to take a picture of them on their first (or was it the 2nd?) day of school.

Megan is in 3rd grade this year with Ms. Montagu. She loves her teacher, but has a very chatty class that she gets annoyed by. Why can't they all be as well behaved as she is?
Ryan is in 5th grade with Mrs. Chamberlain. His best friend, Derek, is in his class again, but they manage to be relatively well behaved most of the time.

I never did remember to get a picture of Annie going back to school. She's in 6th grade, the lone wolf at the Desert Sky Middle School for this year. She has mostly enjoyed school, though was annoyed with her band teacher for a while while she got her feet under her figuring things out again after many years away from teaching. Band is now one of her favorite parts of the day. However, she has a new teacher that makes the rest of her day a bit of a struggle. Her favorite teacher, Mr. Morey, left after fall break and was replaced by Ms. Pacheco who is struggling to figure things out. We're hoping after Christmas break she'll come back new and improved and ready to go.

Rachel is in 9th grade at Cienega High School and doing great in her first semester of high school. She's tied with probably a lot of people for 1st in her class based on an unweighted GPA, and with a weighted GPA she's ranked 7th. Not bad when taking 4 honors classes and juggling Marching Band and all the busyness that came with that. I snagged a picture of Rachel when she was getting in the car for her first day of school.
Then some stalker pictures as I dropped her off to be that embarrassing mom. :)

Rachel managed to attend school for 6 days, then tested positive for COVID. She was out for the following week, which was the best week of her life if you ask her. Staying in her bedroom, no chores, no interaction with people, doing school work online, mildly sick for about 2 days, food brought to her in her room, and being allowed to watch Netflix to pass the time. We're glad she got over it quickly and no one else caught it.
