April was full of lots of opportunities to see the kids performing in one way or another. Ryan had track meets. He did really well on his long jump, and if he had a coach that would actually spend some time coaching long jump, he could get really good. Maybe next year.
He also did really well in his running events, trying the 400, 800, 1600, and 4x400 throughout the season. At championships he ran the 1600 the fastest he's ever gone a mile and got under 6 minutes with 5:55:40.
His 4x400 team did really well, too, getting 2nd place.
Rachel was excited to be ask to play in the pit of the Little Mermaid at Palo Verde High School. She had a good time, and sounded great. It was a chance to fulfill her dream of playing in the pit.
Ryan got to go on a campout with the YM, and the next day Megan came with the YW to join them for shooting. They both had a good time.
Annie's concert band had a great end of the year concert. Apparently this group of concert band was one of the best groups they've had in a long time. They even earned a superior at their area festival.
Annie's beginning drama class performed their one act the last week of April. Because her performance was going to be the same night as the stake youth activity, I went to her performance during the school day. She did a good job in her role, at least until her character died. :)
That week there were so many performances. Friday Megan and Ryan had their piano recital. They both had a duet they performed, and an additional piece and they both did a great job.
Saturday, while Jacob and Rachel went to Annie's play (Megan stayed home since the horror genre isn't exactly her cup of tea), Ryan and I went to the Stake Youth Activity. It started with some service, cleaning up a nearby park, then after dinner we split the kids into groups and had them rotate through various games.
Wrapping up the April concert series, we had Rachel's jazz band and Symphonic band concert. Both groups were so good. It was the last time for Rachel performing with the Symphonic band (but she had one more jazz gig), and they recognized the seniors for all they brought to the program.
Wrapping up April, with Annie hitting 15 and 6 months old, she could get her driver's permit! It was a very busy day, so she took her online permit test at 6am, and went a little late to seminary, then I came and got her during her lunch break and took her to do the paperwork and get her picture for her permit. It's been an adventure with her starting to learn to drive. She's coming along now.
