Rachel managed to stay real busy in January. Besides all the family stuff we did, Rachel also managed extra excitement on her own.
With the changes in the church allowing girls to join Young Women in January of the year they turn 12 and to go to the temple at the same time, Rachel was able to get her temple recommend and go with us to do baptisms for the dead.
It was a good night. Her Grandma and Grandpa Knight are planning to take her again this week.
Rachel got to miss school for most of a day to participate in a math competition. Among 32 5th graders she earned 3rd place and got a trophy.
Her school team also won first place. She gets to move on to the next level and participate in districts in March.
That night we noticed that her new "Mathlete" shirt, her pants, and her bedding were all the same color. She blends in pretty well laying on her bed. :D
Of course, joining YW, she was introduced at New Beginnings (among with the HUGE group of incoming behives--our ward YW numbers increased by 50%).
Rachel also finished her science fair project. She worked on finding an effective cooling towel combo with the type of fabric and the type of filler.
We were all just happy to be done with the science fair for a few years. :)
Rachel used chocolate as lipstick, then stole my phone and took 100 pictures of herself.
Wierdo.
