Tuesday was Grandpa's birthday. We got into town just in time to celebrate with him and enjoy some cake and ice cream.
This was a familiar view all week. The kids would get something (cake in this instance), then be sent outside to eat it, and have some fun chilling together.
Wednesday morning we all got ready and headed up the side of the mountain.
The hike to the Y is pretty steep and with the sun beating down on us we were sweating like pigs, but the kids were troopers.
They were happy to reach the top and get to enjoy the view.
And a picnic. The hike down was easier for the most part, but we did have two injuries from slipping on the gravel. After the hike I heard a lot of people saying they didn't want to ever hike the Y again because it was so hard. But on our drive home at the end of the week at least two of our kids chose hiking the Y as one of their favorite things we did during the week.
After we got all sweaty on the hike, playing in the water in the back yard was perfect.
When Megan and Bevy were done playing in the water they both happened to get dressed in their overalls. Twinner cousins. :D
Rachel and Joy really hit it off during the week. Rachel was really good with all the little kids, finding things to keep them entertained, and Joy especially latched on to her as the cool older cousin that she wanted to follow around all the time.
Gathering for one of many family prayers during the week:
