Megan is 6! She's been waiting a long time for this. And planning for months. She wanted to invite 3 friends from school and her cousins, but with the Coronavirus surge right now we thought that wouldn't be wise, so we just had her cousins come. Friday night she had a Slumber Party (or as Megan liked to call it, a Late Night) with just her girl cousins and her sisters. She wanted it to be a Water Land cake (with a Candy Land cake for the next day when we had all the family together).
Pizza and rootbeer:Megan ended up with so many new stuffed animals for her birthday.
They watched Enchanted, then went to sleep in a mini fort in the loft.
Ryan slept over at Todd and Savannah's. The boys and the girls all got up nice and early. A little too early. Savannah had a pancake breakfast planned since we couldn't have our traditional ward pancake breakfast. We all went to Grandma's and ate pancakes and bacon and all sorts of tasty food.
The kids got in the pool and jumped on the trampoline with the sprinkler on all before 9am when we all loaded in the cars to go to the church for the Ward's substitution for the pancake breakfast: drive through ice cream and popsicles.
So we were back to Grandma's by 9:30 having already swum and eaten ice cream, ready for Megan's family birthday party.
She opened the birthday presents.
Became a present. :)
Then we played a few Candy Land games: bean bag toss.
Candy bar walk (like a cake walk):
After loading up on way too much candy the kids swam some more until it was time to have a BBQ lunch to celebrate the 4th of July.
They were too full of candy and food to feel like eating cake at that point, so we sent them home with Jacob to watch a movie while Savannah, Todd and I went to their house to watch Hamilton. After the movie they were finally ready to eat their cupcakes and it was the official end of the nearly 24 hour long birthday party.
The next day Megan was excited to paint the treasure box she got from Grandma and Grandpa Campbell.
We're super happy to have our 6-year-old vampire girl around. She's got a few more loose teeth and keeps telling me she's going to be a vampire for Halloween. She's getting to be a great reader and loves Dragon books by Dav Pilkey. She loves Hatchimals and Beanie Boos, painting, drawing, and her mommy. She has loved being home during this quarantine and doesn't really want to go back to school. She likes her friends at school and her teachers, but she would prefer that I be her teacher and we keep home school going for a while here. Unfortunately for her, I don't agree. The 6-year-old will be back at school as soon as they open it up.
