Fall break

Fall break was kind of low key this year, which was very nice. The first week we did some deep cleaning and went to the Ostrich farm (separate post). The second week all the kids except Rachel went to cooking camp with Sister Petty. It was a fall/halloween themed camp, so they made lots of pumpkin stuff: pumpkin shaped cheeseball, bread, rice crispy treats, as well as some spooky stuff: mummy dogs, graveyard pudding, etc. They all had a lot of fun and didn't have to make lunch at all that week. ;)

The girls got to go to the temple with their youth group.
We also got tickets to the Gaslight Theater's version of Harry Potter. Since Annie was in her school's Harry Potter spoof, we thought it would be fun to go see the Gaslight version. Of course we had to take pictures beforehand out front.

Grandma and Grandpa came, too, so it was a fun time for all.

The last week of Fall Break Annie hosted a couple craft days, one for younger/pre-school age kids, the other for older school age kids.

Ryan also did a basketball camp and a coding camp over fall break. He really liked the coding camp, which was at the library, and did a great job learning Python and using Scratch. Snapped this picture one day when we went to the library to pick him up:
Megan crocheted her own hat, and is getting pretty good at crocheting.
Ryan had a bunch of friends over after sports camp one day and had lots of fun with them, playing Mario Kart, playing outside, and watching Mark Rober while they ate lunch.
Annie got in some time with her friends, too, going to the temple with Laura, Courtney and Drew, and out to ice cream afterwards, while Megan got to hang out with her buddy, Kaylee.
The last day of Fall break there was a solar eclipse. Rachel had a band competition that night, and band practice during the solar eclipse so she took some solar glasses with her so she could check out the progress. We had some eclipse glasses at home, too, so we enjoyed watching the progress. Rachel especially appreciated the cooler weather that came with the eclipse. It wasn't a total eclipse where we were, but still made cool shadows through the trees, and was cool to watch.
