This year I've been less involved at Desert Willow since I'm no longer the PTA president. It has been nice taking a step back and helping just when I have time, instead of feeling obligated to be there for all the things. I'm helping with the Reflections art contest and the birthday books the PTA gives out monthly, but other than that I'm mostly just helping in Megan's class weekly, and helping with special events when I have time. In October I came and helped with the Day of Awesomeness. We snapped a picture of Megan's class afterwards.
I've been helping put on the Reflections art contest and it's mostly wrapped up. We had 70 entries this year, in 5 categories, so we're calling it a great success. All that's left is the celebration, and I'm looking forward to wrapping that up. Here's the display I put together to try and get participation and share info about it.I got to go on Megan's class field trip in October. We went to Las Cienegas National Preservation Area.
They did presentations about how they keep the area maintained and free from wildfires and pollution.
They also showed animals and plants that can be found in the area, and the kids had a lot of fun.
Besides helping at Desert Willow I've also been helping a bit at Cienega, especially during marching season. Now that marching season is over I'm at Cienega a lot less, still helping with the PTO there. I also got pulled in to helping at Desert Sky as the secretary, which so far really has meant nothing more than taking notes at the meeting, so if that's all it stays at, I'll manage just fine.
I enjoy being involved at the kids' schools and knowing their friends and the adults that are around them.
